Human Achievements Thus Far
In the process of evolution of humanity, humankind has achieved the following:
- Development of multiple languages for communication
- Identification of, and the ability to use various natural resources
- Development of various products and facilities such as food, clothing, shelter, transportation, telecommunication, etc. leading to a more comfortable living
- Innovative developments in medical sciences to improve longevity
- Recognition of the necessity for education and the exploration of various methods of education
- Experimentation of many forms of governance such as monarchy, oligarchy, democracy, etc
- Innovative technologies to bring the world together
- Increased global interaction through various forms of media, humanitarian work, international trading platforms, etc.
Current Global Challenges
Despite the above developments, there is a rise of the following complex challenges:
- Global warming, climate change, pollution, environmental degradation and resource depletion
- Loss of trust and increasing insecurity among human beings
- Inequality and accumulation of wealth leading to extreme poverty and widening the gap between ‘the rich’ and ‘the poor’
- Engagement of a large portion of humankind’s capacity into destructive activities such as violence, war, terrorism, etc.
- Increased relationship issues and family break-up
- Complex psychological problems (e.g., depression, anxiety, tension, stress, loneliness, boredom, frustration)
Necessities
In light of the above principles, there is a need to:
- Develop a holistic understanding and necessary skills to solve challenges that threaten humanity
- Understand justice to ensure fulfilling relationships with each other
- Develop a comprehensive vision for righteous utilization of our body, mind and wealth
- Recognize and fulfill one’s responsibilities and duties as an individual, as a member of family, as a member of society, as a citizen of this planet Earth
- Design and develop a holistic and integrated education system to make this understanding easily available to every human being
- Identify ethical and appropriate political and economic policies, constitutional frameworks and organizational structures to solve complex problems of the world collectively to ensure harmony among people and on the planet
- Learn how to use natural resources in a sustainable manner by recognizing our integral relationship with the Earth
- Ensure a way of living that leads to freedom from fear, insecurity and exploitation and ensures justice, sustainability, and peace across the globe
By considering all of the above points, we are proposing a new value-based education model with unique content, and a collaborative process which is holistic, harmonious and sustainable. This in turn will lead to a new harmonious human order/global system that is self-organized, decentralized and networked. Through this global co-operation we can effectively tackle various man-made global crisis. We believe that this proposal will fulfill the long awaited innate human need to live with happiness, prosperity, harmony, and balance.
